Plant Growing Techniques
- How to create the right environmental conditions for plants?
Some plants have the ability do well in different climatic conditions whereas few plants require a controlled environment and survive in a specific region conditions.
- Before planting a plant in the container understand the conditions the plants need in your local area. You may search online or ask garden experts at nursery regarding your chosen plant characteristics and growing requirements.
- Try to buy or grow plants that do well in your region’s climate, temperature and soil conditions. Make a list of plants they are easily adoptable to your local soil and climate conditions.
- For indoor plants, maintain a fairly steady temperature. Avoid placing green plants in low shady places.
2.Make sure the container or pot selected is big enough.
Plants need space to grow. If you’re planting directly in the ground or container, ensure adequate space is created between plants.
- For plants in pots, check frequently the roots if they look crowded. If they are densely packed break them up and re-plant in a larger pot to enhance its growth.
- If there is no plan to transfer to a larger container, then you may consider trim the roots and then re-plant the plant.
3.Provide the right amount of sunlight.
Plants generally need either full sunlight, partial sunlight, or partial shade. This relatively simple distinction has a big impact on how well plants do.
- Try to buy the plants based on your garden space and sun light conditions. Sun light is essential for most of the plants.
- If you’re planning a garden with different varieties of plants, arrange it so that part of the garden is shaded and part of it is exposed, so that you’ll have a place for all
- Many indoor house plants do best in less shade. Consider this point before you identify the plants for indoor and outdoor plantation. Otherwise. Plants may die if it is exposed too long for bright sun light for too long.
- If you observe your plant becoming thin and reaching toward the light, keep the plants closer to the sunlight zones.
4.Providing Water and Food
- Plants require constant food supply for its growth. ensure watering is done regularly based on the type of the Plant.
- Not all plants need watering every day. Indoor plants receive less sunlight and outdoor plants receive more bright sun light every day.
- Understand the plant requirement and maintain watering schedule that is different for indoor and our door plants.
- Moisture level of the soil in every pot to be tested so that water is adequate to the plant.
- Each plant require fertilizer outside the regular water supply. Provide adequate amount of NPK (Nitrogen, Potassium and Prosperous) component through homemade fertilizers or organic fertilizers. Fertilizer type of quantity will differ from plant to plant. Seek proper advice from the experts, garden shops, nurseries before you decide and buy the fertilizer
- Monitor regularly to make Plants survive
- Watch out for any plant diseases. If so, initiate immediate plant disease action. Consult garden expert and share the plant details for removal of plant diseases. If you are aware of the plant disease use proper pesticide and minimize the spreading of the disease.
- Plants need regular maintenance. Keep the plant clean, look for any change in the plant behaviour. Any unusual change in the plant behaviour may indicate the disease symptom.
- Use adequate use of fertilizers on time. Not all fertilizers work for all the plants.
What should I grow plants in containers or pots?
If you are passionate about garden, consider vegetables, flowers and shrubs to be grown in containers.
- Annual flowers and vegetables may be grown in containers.
- Small shrubs may be grow in larger containers.
- Smaller vines may be grown in containers.
- Herbs are always great for containers!
Always make sure the container is large enough for the variety of plant you select. Due to inadequate water supply and limited nutrients supply, larger plants planted in small containers may not bloom or produce fruit well. Check the details before buying the plant
How to provide adequate Sun light for the plants ?
In general, vegetable plants require at least six hours of sunlight per day. Tomatoes, peppers, beans and other sun-loving plants will appreciate as much sun as they can get. Few Salad greens and herbs may require less sunlight. If your proposed garden area has direct low sun light for six hours or less, consider placing your plants on movable trays or caddies or casters. That way it helps to maintain the required sunlight by moving these movable trays as the direction of the of the sun changes. But you may need to monitor the sun direction regularly on daily basis.
Wind is another factor to keep in mind. Your plants will do better in a protected location where the wind doesn’t batter and dry out their foliage. To minimize wind related challenges,, use the shelter of a building, or erect a temporary windbreak made from portable fencing or fabric. Arrange your pots such that larger plants shield smaller plants. Another approach is to Clustering the potted plants. This helps to raise humidity levels, keeping plants more productive.
